Halloween is one of the few Holidays where you can have fun with outdoor decorations. Create a ghoulish scene with these outdoor Halloween decorating tips.
The most widely-used and popular Halloween decoration is the classic jack-o-lantern. Don’t spend all your free time carving pumpkins! Host a pumpkin carving party. Invite over friends, family or neighbors to share scary stories and cider while all of you carve your own pumpkins. You can even make it a contest! As a rule of thumb, be sure to carve your pumpkins no more than two weeks before Halloween. We don’t want any rotted pumpkins to scare people off!
A front or backyard is a good place to build a “graveyard.” Buy foam presentation boards and cut them into tombstone shapes. Decorate them however you like, with scary or funny sayings. Be sure to add glitter or lights to make them pop but be sure to follow any warnings about the lights and ensure that they are safe for outdoor use or just buy outdoor-specific lights for this purpose. You can buy plastic gravestones too, but sometimes creating your own is more fun for you and you can add personal flair. Pile your home-made jack-o-lanterns near the graves. You can also get outdoor, glass lanterns and light candles for all your neighbors to see your creations.
